Being appointed pastor at St. Bonaventure Catholic Community in 2010 was coming home for me. I was here at the beginning of the parish with my family when I was a teenager, and from here I left for the seminary to become a Conventual Franciscan and a priest. It feels good to be back home and it brings to mind how important it can be for everyone to feel at home in the parish where they belong.
A parish community is where some of the most important events of life take place: baptisms, first communion, weddings and funerals and so much more. It is where we pray together and learn about God, and it is where we can find support as we journey through life. We also learn to reach out to others and offer service to the larger community, spreading the Gospel and serving those who are in need. Over and above all of these events, however, we need to build relationships with other members and feel at home, able to share our faith in a safe environment and grow together as we try to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
Whether you are a visitor, new parishioner, or longtime member, we hope you feel welcome at St. Bonaventure Catholic Community. Through the use of this website I hope you are able to find the information you need about us and find ways to get involved in the action. As you will see there is a great deal happening here and we are continuing to grow, trying to become who Jesus Christ wants us to be to carry out his mission in the world today.
Peace and all good,
Fr. Richard Kaley, OFM Conv.
