Death reveals that it contains the mystery of the human person, for the death of Jesus Christ was the most important event in human history.
St Bonaventure clergy and volunteers work together to provide help and comfort to grieving members of the parish. When a loved one dies, family members meet with the clergy to plan the funeral Mass. As the priest gently guides family members to select fitting scripture readings and music, family members often offer insights into the life of the deceased and these recollections may be incorporated into the priest’s homily.
The Resurrection Choir supports the assembly with musical worship, although special musicians may also be selected by the family. Family members may put a white pall on the casket at the church doors, proclaim readings, lead prayers of petition, present the gifts of bread and wine, and, if commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers, may assist with the distribution of Holy Communion.
